Many people look to the internet to diagnose themselves these days so having Dr. Robot give you a prostate exam should be cool… right??
Researchers in China have been working on a flexible, finger-like probe with sensors on the end. They think it could eventually be used to detect things like an enlarged prostate, or abnormal lumps.
It’s called a “BSF,” or “bio-inspired soft finger” or ROBO-FINGER if you will.
It’s not just for prostate exams. In a recent test, it was able to find someone’s artery on their wrist and measure their pulse.
They think the technology could also be used to find lumps in breast tissue.
