It’s not an underestimation to say that millions of grills will be fired up for the Memorial Day holiday weekend and the usual offerings on said grills will be on hand; burgers, hot dogs, brats, chicken, steak and Twinkies (pause for dramatic effect) Yes. Twinkies.
Grills aren’t just for meat and veggies anymore… so let’s toss some soft, spongy, yellow, cream-filled goodness on the flame and weaponize our snack cakes.
In other words, let’s toss some Hostess on the Hotness.
It may sound crazy to throw the classic Hostess cake on the fire, but food blogger, Dylan Murray, insists that that grilled Twinkies will become the greatest cookout dessert since roasted marshmallows.
That’s a bold statement.
Murray says the fire does amazing things to the ultra-processed snack cake. It caramelizes the outside of the cake while making the cream filling meltier and gooier. He says you can enjoy a grilled Twinkie on its own, or you can elevate it by adding chocolate syrup or ice cream.
Easy now… let’s not get crazy with this. Just keep it simple and find out what beer Twinkies pair best with first then go gastronomical with it.
I mean what’s next… microwaved Ding Dongs? Which actually are good – just remember to take the foil off before nuking them.
You’re welcome.
