We are proud to name as this week’s Laura Lee and Cutter Weenie of the Week, Otaniyen Iduozee.
Mr. Idouzee is a Nigerian citizen in the U.S. on a student visa, attending school in Milwaukee. And he is not the Nigerian prince promising to make you a millionaire, but he was just busted trying to make himself a millionaire by scamming you out of money. It turns out that Otaniyen was partially behind something called a romance scam, where they’d befriend lonely or elderly people on social media, establish a relationship, establish trust, and then they’d ask for money. We’ve heard of the fake celebrity romance money scams, and this is basically that. All of a sudden, before they could meet, they’d say things like they need money for hospital bills, or for some sort of crisis, or for a business opportunity. They’d find victims via social media, messaging apps, and of course, through dating sites.
Otaniyen was busted technically on laundering money and sending it back to Nigeria. In fact he sent millions of dollars back to Nigeria and was in charge of multiple accounts that would funnel the money. Doesn’t he know he can just open up a bunch of car washes in order to launder money?
LL: allegedly
He has been sentenced to a 42-month prison sentence here in the U.S. Upon the completion of his prison time, he’ll be deported back to Niegera. That seems like a light sentence for preying on the lonely and the desolate and destroying people’s lives. Where’s ICE when you actually need them?
So for disregarding the dream of a Nigerian prince sending me money,
For taking more money from grandma than the grandkid who visits her in the home every other week, claiming it’s his birthday
And for giving women false hope everywhere that Keanu Reeves could in fact fall in love with them.
We are proud to name Priceless and now Penniless non-Nigeran Prince, Otanieyn Idouzee, a now former UW-Milwaukee student, as this week’s Laura Lee and Cutter Weenie of the week.
