Former Mott the Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs formed the now Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame band, Bad Company, with singer Paul Rodgers in 1973. Bad Company were just announced as an inductee into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame for 2025, and unfortunately, Mick won’t make it to see his band enshrined. Mick has passed away following complications from cancer and a stroke suffered days after the band completed a UK tour in October 2016. He was 81.
Paul Rodgers said in a statement,
“Our Mick has passed, my heart just hit the ground. He has left us with exceptional songs and memories. He was my friend, my songwriting partner, an amazing and versatile guitarist who had the greatest sense of humor. Our last conversation a few days ago we shared a laugh but it won’t be our last. There are many memories of Mick that will create laughter. Condolences to everyone who loved him especially his one true love, Susie. I will see you in heaven.”
Simon Kirke added,
“He was a dear friend, a wonderful songwriter, and an exceptional guitarist. We will miss him deeply.
This is a good look at Mick’s passion for the music he created and performed, as discussed during an interview for Gibson Guitars.
And a performance from Bad Company celebrating their 40th anniversary on the old Tonight Show With Jay Leno
