Erin Punton, 22, from Northumberland, admitted she had no idea why she scooped up the bird from outside Wetherspoons pub, saying it happened “without even a thought.”
The next morning she woke up dazed and confused to find a seagull flapping around her living room, “When I woke up in the morning, I’d forgotten and he was just floating around the sitting room,” she said.
She then took the seagull to a local vet, Ms Punton was told it had tested positive for bird flu.
