Mile of Music is the independent music festival that could. It takes over downtown Appleton every year, and with Mile 12 upon us, this year, five area bands that are playing this year’s Mile took over the WAPL Garage during WAPL Mornings with Laura Lee & Cutter.
On Monday, it was the blues-based band North Wind and The Sun out of Oshkosh. Unfortunately, we only got one of their 4 songs caught on video, but it’s worth watching.
On Tuesday, one of the Fox City’s longest-running local original bands, Pudge, stopped by.
On Wednesday we were treated to some loud and intense punk rock from Smoke Free Home
Then on Thursday a brand new, and very young band with a very big sound, The Coves joined us.
We wrapped things up on Friday with a local favorite and the band Traveling Suitcase
We couldn’t have done this without the help from JD as in Jammin’ With JD and the guitarist for the local metal tribute band Sir Real. He and Cutter backline all their equipment and sound for this adventure in the garage. Also a shout out to the band Off kilter for a few extra pieces of equipment. Thank you to our friends at Code Zero Radio for shooting video all week. Thank you to Jess Grim from Mile of Music for helping Cutter book the bands, and of course to our own John Jordan and his consistent support of local music via WAPL Homebrewed heard on Saturday mornings.
