A routine traffic stop turned into a (medium) rare arrest into a high steaks bust.
Slidell, Louisiana police pulled over a truck with non-functioning tail lights – pretty standard police stuff. But when the two men in the truck started acting nervous, that’s when officers looked further into the vehicle and found packs of purLOINed USDA beef from a local Walmart.
Talking to officials at the Walmart, officers found that the meat thieves had walked into the store with bags, loaded up everything from what store manager called the “meat wall”, tossed it in a cart and walked out of the store – sans payment.
Slidell Police say both suspects have a history of shoplifting offenses.
All-in-all the meat according to Walmart officials was valued at around $1500 – which in this economy amounts to about four ribeye steaks.
