We are proud to name as this week’s Laura Lee and Cutter Weenie of the Week, Steven Jahnke, the now former treasurer of the Hearthstone House in Appleton. We’ve had these stories in the past. If your organization is missing money? Look to the treasurer. This guy, though, has added the lips and A-holes to the inner casing of the weenie.
The Hearthstone house in Appleton is a museum inside the first house in Wisconsin to have electricity. The person who lived in the house in the 1800’s brought hydroelectricity to north-east Wisconsin and powered his house with it. It’s an amazing look back at the bygone era of the Victorian age, when new inventions were abundant. Mr. Jahnke took his cue from the criminals of the same age and tried to steal money from the historic house to the tune of 70 grand. Here’s where the stupid comes in, he used the company card for vacations, bills, deliveries, and more that were not related to the history house. There is nothing Victorian about a cruise for the family, unless it was on the Titanic, but now he’s drowning in legal fees as he attempts to make excuses and pay the money back. His excuse? He confused his personal credit and debit cards with the museum’s card. Then he actually admitted it and said he was going to pay it back, sure he was. Just like HH Holmes was going to return the missing bodies.
Side note, the Hearthstone house does an amazing recreation of HH Holmes and other Victorian Age horrors during the month of October called Killers of the Victorian Age.
So for the beautifully historic Hearthstone, the real restoration project might be its bank account.
So, for someone who supposedly confused personal cards with museum cards … I guess ‘accidental cruises’ are a deductible museum expense now.
And for six years of careful financial oversight, that’s what I call playing the long game of oops.
We are proud to name Steven Jahnke, this historic halfwit of Hearthstone, as this week’s Laura Lee and Cutter Weenie of the week.
