So apparently in 2026 we’re suing comedians for daring to joke about a cartoon lion song. Yes, the composer behind the majestic Circle of Life chant from The Lion King is suing Zimbabwean comedian Learnmore Jonasi for $27 million because he joked that the lyrics mean something like “Look, there’s a lion, oh my god” on a podcast. The lawsuit claims this single gag somehow harmed the composer’s reputation and business dealings enough to justify tens of millions in damages. Jonasi even got served during a comedy set, which only made the whole thing funnier. All this drama over a joke about lion lyrics, because nothing says “Hakuna Matata” like a multi‑million‑dollar courtroom battle. Lebo M, for not having a sence of humor, should feel shame, shame, shame.
