APPLETON, Wis. — Appleton police issued two citations and eleven warnings to drivers operating overly-loud vehicles downtown in March.
Chief Polly Olson says officers often let first-time offenders off with warnings and orders to bring their vehicles into compliance.
Olson adds that it remains the discretion of the officers to determine if a ticket or a warning is warranted.
APD’s crackdown on loud vehicles comes following complaints from people living in the downtown area about nighttime noise levels.
