We are proud to name this week’s Laura Lee & Cutter Weenie(s) of the Week Zambia Bell of Milwaukee, and Carolyn Franco of Columbus, for defrauding Medicare faster than Congress on a holiday.
These two women apparently thought Wisconsin Medicaid was just a rewards program where you cash in taxpayers dollars whenever you feel like it.
State and federal authorities announced several Medicaid fraud cases involving millions of dollars. One of these women billed for so many hours that she’d have to bend the laws of time and space to actually work them all. There were hundreds of days where she claimed more than 24 hours of work., which for someone who LOVES sleep, a work day that lasts more than 24 hours is my worst nightmare.
The other woman apparently submitted Medicaid timecards while they were out of state. See some people try not to work at their work from home jobs, but she figured out how to not work from somewhere else entirely.
There were also additional schemes which involved fake billing and services that were either exaggerated or never provided at all. The total after all of this was millions of dollars that were supposed to help elderly and disabled Wisconsinites receive care. Pro tip, if you’re going to steal from someone, maybe don’t steal from a program designed to help some of the most vulnerable people in the state.
So for.. Working 29 hours on a Tuesday. Greed is one thing, basic math is another.
For confusing “public service” with “self-service.”
And for turning Medicare into Medi-can’t help you no more
We are proud to name the two medicons of Milwaukee Zambia Bell and Carolyn Franco as this week’s Laura Lee and Cutter Weenies of the Week!
