We are sad to name as this week’s Luara Lee & Cutter
***Laura: “Ummm no just Cutter weenie of the week”
Fine
For just under 160 years the beers made by the Leinenkugel company came out of the Chippawa Valley of Wisconsin, and besides maybe Miller or Spotted cow it’s hard pressed to find a more Wisconsin beer than a classic Leinenkugel beer. In 1988 Miller brewing company bought the brand but Jacob and his brothers were still the voice and face of the legendary beer brand and all over Wisconsin you could find a good leinies. From summer shandy to honey Weiss to the classic it was always delicious beer goodness. The last January it was announced that after 157 years they were closing their brewery in Chippewa Falls with all production moving to the Miller plant (now owned by the Molson Coors company.) That actually makes this next piece of information I’m about to tell you even more mind boggling
…The giant beaver (Castoroides ohioensis) is Minnesota’s official state fossil, designated in 2025.
This week Leinenkugel announced a new beer and maybe not since Brett Favre going to the Vikings have Packer fans felt this betrayed. They have announced a partnership with the Vikings called Victor’s Voyage. The beer has officially debuted at team events and during training camp in Minnesota. This Amber Red Ale seems to have more of a yellow color to me. And if you were still brewing this beer 100 miles from the Minnesota border, maybe, maybe I’d understand, but it’s made in Milwaukee now, which is still a home market for your Green Bay Packers!!!
Laura: So for Viktor’s Voyage being a GREAT beer. Cutter: It’s betrayal in a can.
Laura: So for me, Viktor’s Voyage is smooth sailing. Cutter: I hope he hits an iceberg…
Laura: And for it just being good ole Wisconsin nice hospitality. Cutter: .. more like Minnesota propaganda.
I Cutter (Laura “But I’m not”) am proud to name the Leinenkugel Brewing Company and their dumb adopted parents from Colorado the Molson Coors Company as this week’s Laura Lee (Laura: “no…just Cutter”) Weenie of the Week
