There’s a great article in today’s Green Bay Press Gazette by Kendra Meinert about the bomb scare that interrupted the 1986 Brown County Arena debut of KISS that was sponsored by WAPL. (The KISS show, not the bomb scare.) The bomb scare was apparently the work of a teenage kid who is trying to stop rock ‘n’ roll.
It’s easy to forget how frequently religious zealots tried to control our entertainment choices in the 80s. Perhaps the next story in Kendra’s series on Arena Flashbacks will cover the 1986 Ozzy/Metallica Show and the local group that, three years before, fought to save our collective souls by keeping Ozzy out of our area. You can find details on that show and WAPL’s pro-Ozzy petition drive on Episode #10 of the WAPL 44 for 40 podcast below.
Check out the article. It’s definitely worth the read.
