The Boys and Girls Club of the Fox Valley wants to expand onto a small part of Locust Street, and land across the street.
The plans include a playground, basketball court, and teen fitness area.
The city would need to close part of Locust Street, south of an alley that runs along the north end of the club building. The city already shut down the street at the railroad crossing.
Ald. Patti Coenen says she’s talked with some of the neighboring businesses, and they all had positive things to say.
The city’s municipal services committee supports the idea of closing the street. The city council will have the final say.
