A counselor is warning about a connection between teens vaping and mental illness.
Catalpa Health Therapist Cindy Czarnik-Neimeyer says research shows they’re more likely to develop mental health issues later in life if they use e-cigarettes. She says they can also have another impact. She says some teens use drugs like nicotine to cope with emotions like anger or sadness. She says they then miss out on learning more helpful coping mechanisms for those emotions.
The warning comes as teen vaping rates are on the rise in Wisconsin. There have also been cases of people having severe lung problems.
