The widow of a Fond du Lac police officer killed in the line of duty is pushing for a bill to pay the health insurance premiums for the immediate families of fallen officers.
Ashley Birkholz lost her husband Craig in 2011.
The proposal calls for local governments to cover the costs for spouses and children. The state would reimburse them.
The wives of Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Lt. Leroy Nenning and Everest Metro Detective Jason Weiland also testified during a Senate hearing today.
