The top Republican in the state Senate is officially running for Congress.
Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald wants to take the fifth-district seat of longtime Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner of Menominee Falls. He’s retiring.
Fitzgerald is 55, and he’s been in the state Legislature since 1995.
Democrat Tom Palzewicz is also running.
Several other Republicans could get in the race. They include state Senator Chris Kapenga, former Governor Walker’s son Matt Walker, and Matt Neumann, the son of former Congressman Mark Neumann.
