The timeline to expand I-41 from the Fox Cities to De Pere calls for the project to be done in 10 years.
Appleton Public Works Director Paula Vandehey says the DOT is planning to do environmental studies and design work through 2024. She says construction would start in 2025, or in six years from now.
Ald. Patti Coenen says it’s good news, even though the completion date is a ways out. She says at least the DOT has plans in place, because it’s a bad stretch of highway.
The project would extend from the Wisconsin Avenue exit in the Appleton area to Scheuring Road in De Pere.
State lawmakers included the expansion in the current budget.
