Governor Evers is accepting applications for the next Winnebago County coroner.
Longtime Coroner Barry Busby is resigning at the end of October. Evers will appoint a new one to complete Busby’s term that runs through the end of 2022.
The Winnebago County board voted last week to get rid of the elected coroner’s position, and hire a medical examiner instead. That move can’t be done until the end of 2022.
Applications for the coroner’s job are due on October 8th.
