A federal proposal would help veterans, if they’re interested in becoming pilots.
Democratic U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin of Madison is working to get funding for a program. She says it would help address a projected shortage in pilots, and give veterans a way to use the skills and discipline they gained while serving.
Fox Valley Technical College is supporting Baldwin’s proposal, while the number of students in the school’s pilot-training program is climbing.
Department Chair Jared Huss says in the coming years, they expect to graduate between 20 and 30 pilots each year.
