There’s new guidelines for anyone who gives a graduation speech at a school in the Appleton Area School District.
This comes after board member Pastor Alvin Dupree mentioned getting his strength from Jesus Christ in a speech last June at North High School.
Some students complained.
The six page document explains the superintendent must review the speech ahead of time and speakers have to sign an oath that they won’t deviate from the script.
Dupree feels the document takes away free speech from the entire community.
The procedures never went before the school board and Dupree believes it should have.
