There are still three months to go in 2019, and the City of Green Bay already broke the record for the most precipitation in a year.
Yesterday’s rain put the total over the previous record of 39.2 inches, set just last year.
James Andersen of the city’s parks and recreation department says the wet weather is forcing them to evaluate how they treat their athletic fields. He says adult football isn’t as big of an issue, but the conditions of the infields can impact softball leagues.
The precipitation records in Appleton and Oshkosh are the same, at 43 inches, set in 2010. This year’s total in Appleton currently ranks sixth on the city’s all-time list.
