While the weather might make it a bit wet, there’s a push to get kids to use their own two feet to get to school today.
It’s International Walk to School Day.
Melissa Kraemer Badtke of the Safe Routes to Schools program believes more children are walking or biking than in the past. She says some communities are working to make it safer by putting in trails and other connections between neighborhoods.
She was on Focus Fox Valley with Hayley Tenpas on WHBY yesterday.
The Safe Routes to Schools program is also launching a campaign that urges drivers to slow down when they see kids walking, or on their bikes.
