Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach wants to be ready for new technology that could make winter driving easier.
He says road sensory networks or smart roads could make a big impact when crews decide where and when to use salt.
He says right now humans make that decision based on forecasts, temperature and other variables.
He thinks road sensory networks could take the guessing game out of the process.
Smart road technology is in it’s infancy but Streckenbach will talk to the public works department and people in the private sector about its possibilities.
