The state’s top cop thinks they’re taking positive steps to deal with the opioid crisis.
Democratic Attorney General Josh Kaul says they’re putting a bigger focus on targeting major dealers. He says investigators are trying to work their way up the chain to bring down major networks.
The state budget includes an additional $1 million to go toward treatment courts and other jail diversion programs.
Kaul is also refusing agree to a settlement in a lawsuit against Oxycontin manufacturer Purdue Pharma and its owners. Kaul accuses them of downplaying the risks of the drugs, and he believes it’s important to hold them accountable.
