“Darrel the Barrel” swam across Lake Michigan all the way from Milwaukee to Muskegon, Michigan, where he’s become a bit of a celebrity since ending his journey at Pere Marquette beach.
Yes, Darrel is an actual construction barrel that ended up in Lake Michigan and floated all the way from Milwaukee to Muskegon. The weird part is that the town decided to name the barrel “Darrel,” put a town t-shirt on it, and parade him around town in a series of photos posted to their social media.
Milwaukee’s Department of Public Works has replied, noting that Darrel’s family of construction barrels are glad he’s OK.
You can follow more of Darrel the Barrel’s adventures through the City of Muskegon Facebook page.
