Appleton’s longtime leader will be leaving office next year.
Mayor Tim Hanna made the announcement this afternoon at City Center Plaza, in the same place where he launched his first campaign before the 1996 election.
He says after 24 years, he made a “very difficult decision” and he’s not running for re-election in April. Hanna says he loves the city, and it will continue to be his home.
He’s the longest-serving mayor in Appleton history.
If more than two candidates run, there would be a primary for the seat in February. The election will be on April 7th.
