A strong majority thinks Congress should hold hearings on new Supreme Court justices during a presidential election year.
Marquette Law School Poll Director Charles Franklin says 73 percent think it was wrong for Republicans to block former President Obama’s nominee. Sixty-nine percent support hearings, if there’s another court opening in 2020.
Franklin says two-thirds believe justices base their decisions on the law, rather than politics.
Eighty percent say they at least have some confidence in the U.S. Supreme Court.
