The top Republican in the Senate says the Legislature won’t take any action during a special session on gun laws.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says he won’t hold hearings, or any debate, on bills to create universal background checks and a “red flag” law.
Governor Evers announced earlier this week that he’ll call the special session.
Fitzgerald believes there’s not enough support to take up the bills.
A poll from the Marquette Law School last month found 80 percent support stronger checks. Eighty-one percent backed a “red flag” law.
