The perch population is dwindling, and a nonprofit in Green Bay wants to help turn that around.
The Farmory plans to produce 400,000 young perch next year.
UW-Green Bay Associate Researcher Ken Webb says others need to step up to support Friday night fish fries. He says given the demand, 400,000 is a drop in the bucket.
Webb says they hope people will start their own hatcheries in other communities. He thinks that could eventually help lower the price of fish fries.
