The controversial rental inspection program in Oshkosh is turning up relatively few violations.
City inspectors have been able to get inside fewer than six percent of rental units, after sending letters to tenants.
Community Development Director Allen Davis says when they do get in, they tend to find problems. He says they usually find about six violations, and the issues vary.
Common Council Member Bob Poeschl hopes landlords realize most inspections are fair, and encourage their tenants to let inspectors in.
The initial program was going to be mandatory for all units in Oshkosh, but state lawmakers put strict limits in place on inspections, and what it could charge.
