Brandon W. Conti, 25, was featured in the Kanakee County Sheriff Department’s popular “Warrant Wednesday” social media post this week. Conti was wanted for missing a court appearance to review his DUI case.
“I’m appalled,” Conti wrote in a comment that appears to have since been deleted. “Where’s my costume?”
A short time later, the department featured a Photoshopped image of Conti in a sailor’s outfit, including a cap with one word, “Ahoy” a nod to character Steve Harrington in the Netflix series “Stranger Things.”
“Done! We held up our end of the bargain,” an officer replied. “Now, you do the right thing and ‘Sail’ yourself on in here and turn yourself in. Or, call us, and we’d be happy to provide you transportation.”
A clearly amused Conti replied with two laughing face emojis and a thumbs up. “That’s awesome,” he wrote. “I’ll be there before noon please have the paperwork done and ready.”
“Did he turn himself in by noon like he said he would?” someone commented Thursday. “Sure did,” Conti replied, having already paid his bail. “I’m a free man now.”
