There’s a new safe ride program at UW-Oshkosh, and it’s starting at the same time city police are asking people not to walk alone at night.
UWO Police launched “GO” last weekend, and it offers a free ride anywhere in the campus area.
The program was in the works well before police say two people were randomly attacked by a group of black teenagers. One of them was robbed, and the second victim escaped.
Sgt. Chance Duenkel says they’ve provided plenty of free rides in the first week.
The GO safe ride service includes Main Street, north-side grocery stores, and across the river to the Fox Valley Technical College campus.
