A Little Chute veteran will be able to start enjoying a remodeled bathroom today, thanks to a local contractor.
Vietnam vet Dick Doering was picked for the “Baths for the Brave” program this year. He says his vision is failing, and he’s had to go downstairs to take a shower. He says he’s had to be very careful, and things will be much easier for him now.
Tundraland is doing the work, after Doering was nominated by his daughter.
Tundraland owner Brian Gottleib started the program three years ago. He says it’s very sad to see so many veterans struggle with mobility issues, to the point where they have trouble using the bathroom in their own home. He hopes they’re making a positive impact on the lives of veterans by making bathrooms safer.
Crews started putting in the new shower this morning.
