Former Appleton Alderman Jim Clemons is running for mayor of the city.
Clemons says he didn’t run for re-election after serving for 20 years because he wanted to give others a chance.
He says he’s been following local government at a distance.
Clemons believes some of the same issues are still being discussed and several big issues like a proposed library and move of U.S. Venture to downtown need to be addressed.
Clemons believes downtown will always be in flux with smaller companies coming and going.
He’s the third person to announce his run for mayor.
Robin Kettleson announced his run last week.
The city’s Communication Director Chad Doran was the first to announce his run for mayor.
Mayor Tim Hanna is not running for re-election next spring.
