A World War II veteran from Appleton says he’s relieved and in “7th Heaven” that someone found his book on the history of his Army unit.
Ninety-eight-year-old Lloyd Ellefson lost the book a few weeks ago. Kurt Kemps of Appleton picked it up, and heard Ellefson’s story on WHBY yesterday.
Kemps brought it to our studios, and Ellefson’s daughter called her father. Ellefson says he couldn’t believe it, and he thought she was kidding him. He says he’s been blessed all his life, and this is one more addition to the “little angel on my shoulder.”
Ellefson got the book back at the WHBY studios this morning.
“After Five, Plus One” focuses on the 93rd Armoured Field Artillery. He wanted to bring it to Vets and Friends on N. Richmond Street in Appleton.
When he realized he forgot his hearing aides, he put the book on his car and went back into his house. It fell off Ellefson’s car on N. Richmond Street. Kemps grabbed it shortly after that.
