A former congressman thinks President Trump did try to leverage financial aid from Ukraine in exchange for an investigation into political rival Joe Biden.
Reid Ribble spent six years in Congress in the eighth district, and he didn’t run for re-election in 2016.
He says Trump should be impeached for the quid pro quo, but he shouldn’t be removed from office. He doesn’t think the Senate would vote to remove the president.
Ribble says anytime the U.S. provides funding to countries, there’s an underlying purpose or an expectation. But he thinks it’s unprecedented to seek a political return on an investment, instead of a policy one.
Ribble was a guest on Fresh Take this morning on WHBY.
