Wisconsin Public Service is getting national recognition for the reliability of its electrical system.
Spokesman Matt Cullen says it’s the first time in the utility’s 125-year history they’ve received the ReliabilityOne award. He says they’re judged on how often outages happen, and how long they last.
Cullen thinks WPS also received the award for an innovative project crews have been working on since 2014 to bury power lines in places that are prone to outages.
The only other mid-sized utility to receive the award is in Delaware.
WPS serves almost 450,000 customers in northeast and northcentral Wisconsin.
