DNR staffers are happy to see deer hunters in northeast Wisconsin becoming more involved with the fight against chronic wasting disease.
Wildlife Biologist Jeff Pritzl says the number of people voluntarily bringing samples for testing has been doubling every year. There haven’t been any confirmed cases of CWD in wild deer, in the region, so far.
Pritzl says hunters are also using about two dozen special dumpsters that are set up across the region for carcasses. The goal for them is to prevent the incidental spread of CWD.
