Advocates for open government are putting pressure on Governor Evers to increase transparency in his administration.
Bill Lueders of the Freedom of Information Council says the governor’s recent refusal to turn over emails isn’t out of the ordinary in Madison right now. He’s calling on Evers to lead on the issue, by issue executive orders that require state agencies to comply with all open records requests in a more timely fashion.
Evers initially denied requests from Milwaukee TV stations and newspapers for one day’s worth of emails in November. He relented, and released them last week.
