Plans to build hiking trails, a boardwalk, shops and restaurants on a 55 acre piece of land in the Bay of Green Bay is clearer.
A consultant talked about the goal to develop Renard Island yesterday.
It’s located just off the shore of Bay Beach.
Brown County Port Director Dean Haen believes starting out small and phasing in walking trails and fishing piers and then working their way up to a marina and a boardwalk is the way to go.
He’s hoping the project will attract investors.
The price tag for redevelopment is $28 million.
The island is made up of dredged sediment and it’s been capped with clean fill so it’s safe.
The County Board will take up the issue tomorrow.
