A daughter of a state lawmaker reached a deal on charges that she sold the drugs that killed a pregnant woman and the unborn child.
Thirty-year-old Cassandra Nygren pleaded no contest to several charges, including first-degree reckless homicide.
Brown County prosecutors say Nygren and her boyfriend, Shawn Gray, sold heroin to Jennifer Skeen of Green Bay. Skeen was five months pregnant when she died of a fentanyl overdose in 2017.
Nygren will be sentenced next month.
Her father is Republican Rep. John Nygren of Marinette. He’s worked on several laws to deal with opioid abuse.
Gray is serving a 12-year prison sentence.
