A Senate committee is supporting a bill that would ban firefighting foam that contains PFAS.
The chemicals can cause cancer.
Republican Sen. Rob Cowles of Allouez is one of the authors. He says it could still be used in an emergency with flammable liquids involved.
The proposal now goes to the full Senate.
