President Trump and Hillary Clinton still owe some communities money for campaign visits in 2016, and a local lawmaker wants to make sure future campaigns pay up.
Democratic Rep. Amanda Stuck is working on a bill that would block candidates from getting a permit for another event, if they owe money. She believes it’s important to put the proposal in place soon, because candidates will start coming to Wisconsin soon.
Stuck doesn’t want taxpayers to have to foot the bill for political events.
The bill would also let communities charge candidates before an event.
