The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department says a person wanted on felony warrants and for questioning about multiple crimes was killed in a police shooting in Menasha.
Sheriff John Matz says several SWAT members were involved.
He says the MEG unit went to a home in the 800 block of Grove Street to question a suspect, around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Matz says the person wouldn’t cooperate, and they called in SWAT officers. Sheriff’s Capt. Lara Vendola-Messer says the shooting happened shortly after SWAT got there.
Matz says several shots were fired.
The state justice department will handle the investigation. That’s routine when there’s a police shooting.
