Alongside such other artists we’ve lost over the past year such as Peter Tork, Neil Peart, and Eddie Money, Ric Ocasek of The Cars was honored as part of the Grammys’ annual In Memoriam tribute. But fans of the late Cars frontman were outraged after show’s producers added a “k” to his first name, labeling him as “Rick Ocasek” instead.
Some Twitter users called on the Grammys to hire a copy editor, and one tweeted, “HOW Y’ALL GONNA MISSPELL RIC OCASEK’S NAME??!”
Ocasek died on September 15th, 2019 at the age of 75.
Um, did you mean RIC Ocasek, #GRAMMYs? 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ pic.twitter.com/1rGEnwIcrK
