A statewide group that helps gamblers is hearing from an average of 65 people a day.
Rose Blozinski of the Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling says they had more than 24,000 contacts, through calls to their hotline, texts, and chats in 2019. She says that’s similar to previous years.
About half of the contacts to the Green Bay-based group came through calls. The total of more than 12,000 was down about 11 percent. Blozinski says they saw increases on their text and chat lines.
