The Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Department is concerned about the ice conditions on Lake Winnebago, with the sturgeon spearing season coming up.
Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says the ice is inconsistent. He says their dive team will be on standby, but he doesn’t want to give people a false sense of security. He says it could take some time to get to people, if they fall through the ice.
Deputies say people should stay with a group, wear a life jacket, and bring a rope, in case someone falls in.
