Sturgeon spearers will find varying ice conditions on Lake Winnebago for the opening weekend of the season.
Don Herman from Sunk Dive and Ice Services says the thickest spots are near the middle of the lake. He says it ranges from seven to 18 inches around the lake.
Local fishing clubs will only be putting out four-wheeler bridges for this weekend. Herman recommends against taking full-size vehicles onto the lake for the opening weekend of spearing.
