An endowment fund for scholarships at UW-Oshkosh now has more than $1 million in it.
Graduates Thomas Brinkman and his wife Antoinette started the fund 20 years ago, with a $20,000 donation. The couple gave another $105,000 to reach the milestone.
Finance Professor Steve Huffman says students decide how to use a certain percentage of the endowment, through one of the classes for their major. He says they get experience in managing assets, and researching needs.
So far, Huffman says the fund has generated more than $300,000 for scholarships and other awards.
